Aluminum Garden Furniture
Aluminum garden furniture is quickly becoming a favorite of people who enyoy spending their time outdoors
entertaining and relaxing, but don't like to spend a lot of time maintaining their gardent furniture.
Some of the things that makes aluminum garden furntlure stand out from other types of turniture is the fact that
it s durable, lightweight, it doesn't rust, and it looks great. There are some things that can be done to the
furniture to help it last many long years, so even though it is technically for the most part maintenance free,
there are some things that you can do to help it last even longer.
When you purchase your aluminum garden furniture, normally it will come with instructions for the care and
treatment of the furniture, and many times those direction will differ between the different manufacturers. There
will be differnent care instructions depending on whether the metal is extruded, cast, or wrought.aluminum.
No need to worry about that though as there are some basic things that can be done which are quite normal that
anyone can do.
The easiest thing that you can do to keep it clean is to spray it off with your garden hose frequently. Aluminum
may not rust, but it does corrode, which is in its basic form aluminum rust. This is a lot more common for people
who live in coastal areas where there is a lot of salt in the air. Keeping it sprayed down can go a long way to
preventing this from happening.
If your aluminum garden furniture starts to get a grimy build up of gunk over time, it doesn't hurt to take some
soap and warm water and give it a good scrub down.Another thing that you need to be careful of is spilling
substances on your aluminum furniture, especially things like suntan oils and other chemical contaning substances
as these types of accidents can harm the finish on the aluminum. If you happen to spill something on it that is
chemical in nature, it is important that you clean it off immediately.
A nice thing about aluminum garden furniture is the fact that you can brush out any types of scuff marks by
using a fine sand paper or a light abrasive. For larger scuffs, you can use a nice wire brush to get rid of it, but
make sure that you use a stainless steel wire brush as a regular steel wire brush will leave traces of the steel in
the aluminum which will case rust stains to appear on your aluminum and you don't want that.
For those long winter months, a good way to help your aluminum garden furniture set survive through it in good
shape is to give it a nice coating of oil. It doesn't really matter what type of oil you use for this, but using
cooking oil might be best as it is a little better for the environment. After the winter has come to an end,
remember to wash the furniture down good to get rid of the oil. In the summer months, a good way to keep your
aluminum furniture looking shiny and new is to put a nice coat of baby oil on it.
If you don't like the idea of using an oil on your aluminum garden furniture, then you can use a wax to coat it
with and this will help to keep it nice as well. You only need to put it on a couple of times a year.
These are just a few of the things that you can do to keep up your aluminum garden furniture. Be sure that you
follow the manufacturers guidlines for care though, especially through the warranty period as you don't want to do
anything that could void the guarantee on your purchase.
